No More Portfolio Blues

I love when I go to the grocery store and find a
new fruit I've never seen before!

Who would have thought that purchasing this POMELO would have inspired my senior college portfolio?! As soon as I saw it in the store I knew I had to have it! It wasn't just because it was huge, green and that I had never seen anything like it before.. well maybe it was, but nevertheless I still had no idea why I was buying it. When I got home I started looking for a surface I could put this BRIGHT GREEN fruit on to show the impact it had on me in the store, in a photograph. I also never would have thought my boring old porch would serve as the perfect backdrop for this POMELO. It's amazing how easy it is to be creative, even with household items or things you look at everyday.

The best way to be creative through photography is..
to put recognizable items in recognizable places..
 to intrigue your viewers.

.:CREATIVITY AT YOUR FINGERTIPS:.

“When we engage in what we are naturally suited to do, our work takes on the quality of play and it is play that stimulates creativity.”
 –  Linda Naiman

Even with the best part of the fruit missing, I was still inspired by it's simple beauty. Placing the grapefruit on the windowsill CREATED contrasting shadows that inspired me. CREATING an image where the viewer can connect allows others to expand their CREATIVITY through your CREATIVITY

Observing your surroundings is the simplest way to be creative.
